Jill grew up in a very musical household as the daughter of concert pianist Jeffery Hollander and cellist/cello teacher Jane Hollander. Jill has been singing since the age of 10 when she first began performing at some of her father’s piano concerts. After graduating from both Lawrence University and Alverno College, she studied vocal performance, music education, piano, and French.

Her favorite vocal genres include Broadway, Classical, Pop, Light Opera, and Jazz. She has performed in numerous theatres in the Milwaukee area such as the Florentine Opera, Shorewood Players, Off the Wall Broadway Theatre, Sunset Playhouse, Charles Allis Art Museum, and the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum.

Currently, Jill maintains a private vocal and piano studio in the Milwaukee area. She loves catering lessons to each individual student’s goals and interests. She teaches voice and piano to students ages 5 through adult. She teaches all levels of piano and voice from beginner through advanced. She focuses on healthy singing, while also trying to make lessons a fun learning experience. For those who are auditioning, she prepares students for musicals, WSMA state music competitions, college auditions, and more. For piano, she works with students on basic note and rhythm understanding, music theory, music interpretation, practice techniques, etc. Her music studio typically performs 2 recitals per year for those students who are ready and interested. In 2019, she was voted one of the top 6 music teachers in the Milwaukee area by Expertise Magazine.

I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Elizabeth Clare Notestine

Professional Vocalist & Composer | Actress | Educator

eclare333@gmail.com | 818-442-3345

Elizabeth Clare is a professional musician and award-winning actor based in Milwaukee & Chicago. Being a trained jazz vocalist with a focus on Contemporary Commercial Music, she has shared her voice as a session singer for clients like Dunkin’ Donuts and Mattel, independent recording artists, and performs live in a variety of music settings. As an on-camera actor, you’ll have seen her in national commercial spots like Yoplait, and on TV shows like the NBC drama “Chicago Med”. In addition to her love of performance, Elizabeth is a digital music composer for Universal Music Group. She is also a voice faculty member at The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA & ASCAP.

One of my favorite things about teaching young vocalists is helping them find their own unique voice. This not only includes developing healthy technique (ex. learning to smoothly transition through vocal registers at this age) but also inspiring confidence to embrace the discovery of who they are; artistic identity and storytelling are magical elements of using the human voice. My mentor, the late Jerry Granelli, challenged me to create music from a place of true authenticity. I’m forever grateful for his guidance while he believed in me (even when I didn’t believe in myself!). He helped me find a fascination with improvised music, as well as discovering humor in creativity. Turns out that having curiosity spark hard work and dedication is WAY better than fear!

Testimonials

I feel very fortunate that my daughter has had the opportunity to study voice with Elizabeth. She is outstanding in every way- from her technique and knowledge to the way she is able to connect with and motivate her students. She exposed my daughter to new genres and pieces that both fit her voice and broadened her repertoire. Elizabeth is a true gem and I highly recommend her!

I love working with Elizabeth because she always encourages me to reach my vocal goals. She is kind, patient, efficient, collaborative, and dedicated. She is knowledgeable about the science behind the voice, which is something I really appreciate as I person who likes to know the “why” behind warmups and technique. She is supportive of my theater career, helps me prepare for auditions, and attends my performances. I am so thankful that I am her student!

-Sophia B.

Solana has truly enjoyed her experience taking vocal lessons with Elizabeth. She has helped Solana improve her sight reading and work on her vocal quirks. She has helped prepare Solana for several auditions. Overall, we have had a very positive experience.
